The International Journal of Disney Studies is an academic journal that explores the global impact of the Walt Disney Company through fresh, interdisciplinary scholarship. We publish peer-reviewed research, reviews, and commentary examining Disney's role in shaping culture and society—welcoming diverse voices, methods, and perspectives from scholars and practitioners around the world.
The print journal is expanding its scope into online editorial media with a new YouTube channel. We are seeking student volunteers interested in assisting with the production of video essays and other content. Build your porfolio and gain great experience!
Role
- Work alongside the Producer and Contributor to establish editorial tone.
- Assist in remote voice over recording.
- Work from raw footage through rough cut and final cut.
- Help the channel develop its visual identity.
- Work on two or three videos during Spring 2026.
Responsibilities
- Edit high-quality video essays from script to final render.
- Create engaging title and motion graphics.
- Source supporting footage and b-roll.
- Mix music/SFX to drive narrative usage.
- Collaborate with writers to enhance visual storytelling.
- Maintain a consistent visual identity across series.
Requirements
- Proficiency and access to Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating documentary/essay style work.
- Eye for typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- Critical comprehension of scholarly writing styles.
- Excellent time management and communication for remote work.
